Autograph collecting has always been a popular hobby. Some people do not understand the attraction of this hobby. What is so fascinating about owning an object that a celebrity has scribbled on? For many collectors, it is having the chance to own something that their favorite celebrity has actually had in their hand. In a way, it is having our own little piece of that celebrity. Others collect in the hopes that the signatures will make them money in the future. For example, the value of an autograph increases after a celebrity's death. Prices also increase and decrease according to the celebrity's popularity. Before the movie Gladiator burst on to the big screen it was almost impossible to find a Russell Crowe autograph on any of the leading auction sights. There was no demand. However, after the movie was released the availibly of Crowe's autograph exploded and so did the price. One of his signed photographs recently sold on eBay! for over $200!
